A Message from Ms. Devin in Latin

In Latin the children are beginning the discovery of a new and exciting language and ancient culture! In Lower Elementary the students have begun learning about the names of different animals. They have also begun to learn how to count using the words for Latin numbers as well as Roman numerals.

In Upper Elementary we have focused more on an introduction to Roman culture and daily life. Recently we have read and discussed a few of Aesop’s fables, counting and Roman numerals, and now we are studying the Roman Heroes Aeneas, Romulus and Remus, Mucius Scaevola, Horatius, Julius Caesar and Augustus. Next week we will be moving on to geography of the Roman Empire and Roman gods and goddesses.
